Earn your Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteering hours while making a real impact. Northern Beaches Council’s Bushcare Volunteer Program offers a relaxed, outdoor way to get your hands dirty while caring for our local beaches and bushland.

What will you be doing?

As a Bushcare volunteer, you’ll:

• Remove invasive weeds
• Help native plants grow and regenerate
• Learn about local flora and ecosystems
• Get hands‑on experience caring for the environment

With over 50 Bushcare sites across the Northern Beaches, there’s plenty to choose from. Most groups meet once a month, making it easy to fit volunteering around school and other commitments.

No experience? No worries!

You don’t need any prior knowledge to get started. All training and tools are provided, and every group is supervised by experienced bush regenerators. You’ll receive on‑site guidance in:

• Safe tool use
• Weed removal techniques
• Plant identification

Important information

Northern Beaches Council is a child safe organisation.

Volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while participating in the Bushcare program.
