Council is continuing works to address the landslip that occurred near 139 McCarrs Creek Road, Church Point, on Sunday 7 December 2025, with the safety of residents and road users remaining the top priority.

Remediation of the landslip has required extensive planning, investigations and technical assessments.

So far, we have identified several challenges, including geotechnical risks, underground utility services, environmental considerations, site access constraints and the need to maintain safe traffic movements during construction.

Together with Sydney Water, Ausgrid and a team of engineering and environmental experts, we’re assessing a range of remediation options to identify the most appropriate long-term solution to restore access for the community.

Based on current investigations, the project timeline is:

• Investigations and options assessment: through to late 2026
• Detailed design: early 2027
• Approvals and procurement: mid-2027
• Construction commencement: second half of 2027
• Construction period: approximately six to 12 months

These timeframes are indicative and subject to change as investigations continue, designs are refined and approvals are obtained.

Regular updates will be provided to the community as the project progresses, and we’re committed to keeping residents informed throughout each stage of the remediation works.
