Council has lodged a development application (DA) for a new community facility at Jamieson Park, Narrabeen Lake.

After the previous facilities were destroyed by fire, we’re proposing a design tailored to improving amenities and services for club users and the wider community after listening to suggestions from you. Over 80% of respondents to the community engagement process supported the design.

The new design offers more storage for clubs including sailing, model boat and dragon boat groups. The plans also include a café for public and club use, accessible showers and toilets, watercraft facilities, and a meeting room available to both the community and clubs.

Successful negotiations with the insurer resulted in proper compensation for the destroyed structure, helping fund these new amenities.

We’re committed to creating a sustainable, inclusive space that everyone can enjoy. We’ve prioritised accessibility and inclusion in the design, with improved public amenities, accessible toilets, compliant access ramps, and wheelchair-friendly features to better support people with disability or limited mobility.

We’ve also incorporated sustainability into the plans, including solar panels, rainwater reuse and passive design to help reduce energy use. The design takes an environmentally sensitive approach that respects Narrabeen Lake and its surrounding flora and fauna.

The community have another opportunity to comment on the plans for this important facility here.

We’ll pursue additional funding through grants and a contribution from the Special Rate Variation.

Once the DA is approved, we’ll start construction as soon as practical. We’ll keep you updated on progress and timing as the project moves through the approvals process.
