Ocean swells a forecast to build through Friday afternoon with peak swells of up to 7m forecast overnight Friday and into Saturday which may cause damage to our coastline, beach erosion, close local rockpools and beaches and make rock fishing very dangerous.
Combined with rain activity, it may also create murky water conditions where swimming and surfing would not be recommended.
We are monitoring impacts on Marine Parade – the walkway between Manly and Shelly Beach - and if waves cause a safety risk it will be temporarily closed to pedestrians.
All lagoons except Manly are open. The flood channel for Manly Lagoon has been prepared and will be opened at the trigger level as per protocols.
Please check conditions before you head to the coast this weekend and follow any direction of the lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers. Beach and rockpool closures will be updated regularly across the weekend.
Our two aquatic centres will be open all weekend and are great alternatives for laps or a splash with the kids when the beach is unsuitable.
You can keep up to date with any road closures, weather updates or other emergency by visiting the Northern Beaches Emergency Dashboard.
