The offshore communities on Pittwater are some of the best places to live, work and visit on the Northern Beaches. 
But even in our local piece of paradise, there’s still end of life household items we need to get rid of. 

With offshore bulky goods collections scheduled early next week, we've prepared new videos to help you get ready for collections if you live on Scotland Island and the Western Foreshore.

And before you throw things out, be sure to check out these quick tips:

What are bulky goods?

Items that don’t fit in your household bins and that have reached the end of their life. Bulky good items will be crushed and go to landfill. Putting items out for bulky goods collection is a last resort choice.

Reuse 

Even if you no longer want items, think about ways to pass them on to others to reuse.  Sell online or at a market, pass on to family or friends or donate to charity shops to help them support vital community services. Or take items to one of our free mainland drop off reuse and recycling events.  See our A to Z guide for reuse, recycling and disposal options.

Fix Up

Favourite chair with a wonky leg?  Or maybe a much-loved pair of pants has a broken zip? Book a spot to have items repaired at our free monthly Fixery service or contact specialist repairers who’ll mend broken items to pass onto others.

What can you put out? 

Furniture, mattresses and white goods are okay, but we don’t collect e-waste, building materials, glass or car parts. Remember to check the full list of what you can and cannot put out on our website.

Hazardous Items

Items like gas bottles, flares and batteries, including items with hidden batteries such as cordless vacuums and power banks are hazardous, can cause fires and must not be put in a bulky goods pile or in any bin.  Take them to the mainland for safe disposal and remember to check out our A to Z guide for reuse, recycling and safe disposal options.
