This year’s Seniors Festival (12-28 February) on the Northern Beaches features a full calendar of free and low cost activities. 2020’s theme is ‘Love to Celebrate’ so get out and about, try something different, develop a new passion, socialise and have fun.

You’re never too old to learn something new and here are seven things you can learn at this year’s festival:

1. How to connect online

Connect with your loved ones and learn how to use your phone or tablet to send emails, Skype or FaceTime. You can also learn how to create your own presence on social media so you can keep in touch with friends and grandchildren.

2. Tips to finish your novel

Join bestselling novelist, Amanda Hampson as she helps you to find inspiration from your life to use for material and how to create a dynamic protagonist and plot line to outwit your readers.

3. How to spot a scam

Greg Gehbert from the eSafety Commission will teach you how to be safer online including banking and shopping. View event

4. Uncover our local pioneers

Take a walking tour of Mona Vale or Frenchs Forest Cemetery to browse the inscriptions and symbolic religious art while hearing fascinating stories of the pioneers who settled and developed the area.

5. How to make less waste

Learn how to create delicious stocks, marinades, sauerkraut and leftover lunch bowls with food that is on the way out.

6. Write your life story

Best-selling author, Amanda Hampson will teach you everything you need to know about writing your life story from how to get your material organised to finding a structure and turning your memories into words.  

7. Learn about our local history

Join our Library Local History team as they showcase their great collection of local history resources.
