Northern Beaches Council staff and Mayor, Michael Regan have been officially thanked and recognised in a gracious letter from NSW Health.
Mayor Regan said that the letter was sincerely appreciated, and notes that the Council's response was made possible by the tremendous efforts of front-line health staff and the local community.
"I can't thank the front line health staff enough. Many travelled from various parts of Sydney to help our community; they worked tirelessly to test our community across long shifts, several weeks and many sites," Mayor Regan said.
"Our residents were also amazingly responsive to the health restrictions and lockdowns and attended COVID testing clinics in large numbers. Without this action we would could not have got a handle on the outbreak.
"As the threat of COVID remains with us, we need to keep up with the NSW Government's daily message, keep getting tested, wear masks and continue to socially distance," he added.
