Northern Beaches Council is supporting local schools to deliver hands on environmental projects through its 2025/2026 Eco Schools Grant Program, with funding recommended for 10 initiatives across the Northern Beaches.

Following a review of the previous program, Council updated the grants to benefit more schools, simplify the application process and provide more support to help schools deliver successful outcomes. 

The program offers grants of up to $500 per school across five priority areas including bush regeneration, carbon reduction, waste reduction, sustainability education, and water reuse and reduction. 

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said Council is proud to support local schools and students to take practical action for the environment.

"It is encouraging to see such a strong response to this year’s program, with projects ranging from native gardens and bush care to waste reduction, waterway protection and sustainability education.

“Congratulations to the successful schools: John Colet School, Pittwater High, Davidson High, Narrabeen Sports High P&C, The Forest High, Balgowlah North Public P&C, Beacon Hill Public, Kinma, Wheeler Heights Public and St John the Apostle Catholic Primary.

"A big thank you to our dedicated teachers who go above and beyond their classroom responsibilities to lead these projects and see them through to completion. 

“They inspire students to become eco-champions building strong foundations for environmental sustainability that will benefit our community and beyond.

"We must also commend the diligent P&Cs who continually advocate for their students,” Mayor Heins said.

Funding will be allocated to successful schools shortly, with projects to be delivered by 1 December 2026.
