Artist Residency recipient, Remi Siciliano will present a special exhibition at Eramboo Artist Environment in Terrey Hills from 22 June to 6 July 2026, showcasing the work they developed during their 6-month residency.
The exhibition Erosion Studies presents a series of photographic and photo-sculptural experiments informed by the movement and liveliness of the local area's coastal geology.
Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said the residency provides a unique experience for a creative resident to research, experiment, engage with the community and develop new work.
“Since 2013, Council has partnered with Eramboo Artist Environment to host an Artist Residency Program offering a mid-career artist the opportunity to develop their art practice among the creative community.
“This vital initiative supports creative practice on the Northern Beaches, providing artists with the time, space and resources to develop new work inspired by our unique environment.
“Remi’s work highlights the importance of sustainability in creative practices recognising that every idea leaves a footprint. I encourage you to check out their impressive exhibition.” Mayor Heins said.
Siciliano’s approach blurs the boundaries between artist, subject, material, and environment, allowing photographs to be shaped by more-than-human forces.
These works treat the darkroom as a space of instability and collaboration, where images emerge from materials gathered in the landscape, shaped by chance, erosion and transformation.
Nestled on the edge of the Ku-ring-gai National Park, Eramboo has been a haven for creativity for decades. This residency provides a peaceful sanctuary for artists in the middle of the bush, using the natural surroundings as inspiration.
Northern Beaches Council and Eramboo Artist Environment support a 6-month residency that provides free non-residential studio space at Eramboo in Terrey Hills, with the bonus of tapping into the professional development support and networks Eramboo provides, plus a $3000 allowance for materials.

More about Remi Siciliano
Remi Siciliano is a photomedia artist who works mainly with analogue photography, focusing on ecology, place and collaboration with the natural world. Their practice is hands-on and experimental, often responding directly to specific sites and materials. Remi uses what they call Ecological Image-Making, a way of working that welcomes the involvement of plants, fungi, landscapes, and natural processes in the creation of images. This approach blurs the boundaries between artist, subject, material, and environment, allowing photographs to be shaped by more-than-human forces. Examples of this include long-term experiments with fungus growing through photographic negatives and using invasive plants like Lantana and Morning Glory as alternative photographic developers. By giving up some control, Remi invites other organisms and ecological processes to actively participate in making images, imagining new ways of working together in the future.
