A 24 hour, 7 day no alcohol zone is in full force from today indefinitely along Manly's East and West Esplanade.

Council is taking this proactive step to discourage large gatherings and encourage effective social distancing, in the best interests of our whole community.

Council is asking the community for its full cooperation.

Over the past week several groups have gathering to drink in popular spots, disregarding the social distancing rules.

We have also had to close a number of beaches due to the public breaching the Federal Government’s 500 people rule for outdoor spaces.

Both Council’s Rangers and the local Police will be patrolling popular areas to help people understand the requirements.

Council wants to keep public spaces open as much as possible although we need the community to support us and follow the Federal Government rules, otherwise we have no choice but to act to ensure everyone’s health and safety.
