The popular Birdwood Playground at North Narrabeen Beach has reopened, to the delight of many local children.

Two-year-old Harry was enjoying the winter sunshine with his mum Sky this week.

“The slippery slide is awesome,” he said.

Sarah, a mum of Jack, is also impressed. “The play equipment is a good mix for his age,” she said.

Local dad, Chris and his son Forrest were exploring everything the playground has to offer.

“It is so great,” said Chris. “It’s so safe and good for all ages.”

All the equipment was replaced and rebuilt within the footprint of the old playground as part of our Playground Renewal Program.

When consulting the community about what they wanted to see in their new playground, which is right next to North Narrabeen Surf Club, Council discovered several other play elements were needed. An additional pod swing, high-backed swing seat and climbing elements were installed in addition to old favourites like Harry’s top pick, the slippery dip.

New fencing and additional seating is now complete with landscaping being finished off this week.

The project took six weeks to construct and was closed during this time. Make sure you go check it out!

Further exciting community playground projects have been recently competed or are under construction at Allambie Heights Oval, Manly Dam and Avalon’s Dunbar Park.
