Council is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2026 Environmental Art & Design Prize (EADP), one of Australia’s leading prizes recognising creative responses to environmental issues.
This year, there were over 700 submissions from across the country. It’s fantastic to see so many people getting involved and exploring themes like climate change and sustainability.
The 170 finalists are really pushing us to think differently about our environment, and showing just how powerful art and design can be in driving positive change.
Bringing these outstanding works and artists to the Northern Beaches is a major opportunity to connect local audiences with some of Australia’s best contemporary creative voices revealing bold ideas at the intersection of art, design and the environment.
We are impressed to see 47 of the finalists are from the Northern Beaches, with many more having ties to the region.
The standard of entries in 2026 has been extraordinary and impactful. The Prize is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to engage with artists’ and designers’ unique perspectives on our natural world, sustainable living and the challenges we face together.
You can see the finalists’ works at Manly Art Gallery & Museum and Curl Curl Creative Space from 7 August to 20 September 2026. We invite everyone to come along, experience these inspiring interpretations of environmental themes, and join the conversation about sustainability in the arts. You can also vote on your favourite artwork and design.
Winners will be announced on Friday 7 August. Our 2026 judging panel includes acclaimed visual artist Laura Jones, celebrated for her evocative environmental art, and designer, educator, and cultural leader Nila Rezaei, who has made a real difference in sustainable design and community engagement.
Don’t forget to have your say, too! The People’s Choice Award lets you vote for your favourite entry, with voting open until Wednesday 16 September. Winners will be announced on Friday 18 September.
It’s a great way for all of us to celebrate creative talent and support environmental advocacy together.
Environmental Art & Design Prize is presented by Northern Beaches Council and foundation sponsor Colormaker Industries along with event sponsor Kimbriki Environmental Enterprises and event supplier Seadrift Distillery.
