On 29 October 2021 Council agreed to the following funding and fee waivers through the Events Grants Program 2021/22, to support organisations to hold community events on the Northern Beaches.

Carols by the Lake

A much loved event attended by people from all across the Northern Beaches since 2005. Last year due to lockdown the event was taken online and viewed by thousands. In light of the incredible difficult year and the easing of restrictions the organisation aims to hold Carols by the Lake once again in our community at Lakeview park, Narrabeen following the required health orders. This event will bring a sense of community and connection amongst all groups within our community. Should the health order change for the proposed date we will take the event online to fulfil the same outcome. The event will include local artist from 6pm with tradition Carols from 7pm and a finale fireworks display at 9pm. During the evening donations will be collected for the Community Foodcare Program that offers groceries and assistance to over 1140 families in our local community who are facing difficult times.

Avalon Beach Bowling & Recreation Club Ltd

Avalon Beach Centenary Celebrations

AJ Small launched the Subdivision of Avalon Beach in December 1921 along with the provision of Dunbar Park, Avalon Golf Course, the Public Pathways, Angophora Park and many other reserves as part of his vision for the area.
The event will be a soft launch for many events and interactive activities rolling out over the year Celebrating the Centenary, the indigenous history and culture, the local history and culture, showcasing the many community groups and volunteer organisations that support environmental sustainability & habitat conservation, wildlife support and rescue, community support and mental health, sport, recreation and interest groups, service and rescue groups, resident associations, aboriginal support group and music and performance groups. The legacy will be a 100 Native Tree Canopy Walk to be planted by students from the 4 local schools.
The Dunbar Park activities will run from 9am-5pm. The day will begin with a Welcome to Country, digeridoo music and Aboriginal singers, followed by a Smoking Ceremony of the ground prepared for the planting of 4 trees by a representative of each school, to commence the Centenary Tree Walk.
The Community Groups will have a number of activities, there will also be some art, history and storytelling. Canopy Keepers will launch their tree conservation education program as well as 100 native tube stock giveaway.

Surf Life Saving Sydney  Northern Beaches Inc

Northern Beaches Surf Life Saving Fun Fair

Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches would like to hold a fundraising event to help support their 21 not-for-profit, volunteer-based Clubs, which have been unable to fundraise or generate income during the COVID lockdowns, and require both a financial and membership boost coming in to the peak summer period.  This will be the organisation’s only fundraising event for this year, and all funds raised will help provide equipment for the Surf Life Saving School Community Beach programs.
The family friendly Fair will operate from 10am to 6pm at the Pittwater Rugby Park on Sunday December 12th, coinciding with the North Narrabeen Junior Carnival across the road to encourage more visitors. 
Activities and games will include putt putt golf, Kindi Farm, jumping castle and chocolate wheel. Various stalls will be selling goods such as clothing, jewellery, sporting goods, toys and books. There will be a variety of food and beverages on offer, including coffee, fairy floss and ice-cream. Picnic packs can also be pre-booked for families to collect on the day. There are also plans for an entertainment event to close the Fair in the evening.
This event will be run with the assistance of paid and volunteer Surf Life Saving members. Some of the local Clubs will also be in attendance to operate a membership drive, and will be on hand for any first aid or medical emergencies at the event.

Aqua Rugby Australia

Aqua Rugby Australia

The Aqua Rugby Festival is a two-day floating rugby union tournament taking place Friday 4th and Saturday 5th March 2022 to be held outside of the swimming enclosure in Manly Cove and to be televised on the main channel of Channel Nine.
It will be a festival of colour & entertainment with rugby union being played atop a 30 x 30 metres pontoon rugby pitch which will be floated into Manly from Silverwater. Helicopters will follow this journey, to be released to the press the night before the event. The event is free to the public to enjoy the spectacle on the shoreline, there will also private ticketed functions taking place on yachts anchored alongside the Field of Play, as well as inside Manly Pavilion. Organisers frame the concept as Hong Kong Sevens meets the Monaco Grand Prix in our home town & tourism destination, Manly NSW.

Bondi to Manly Walk Supporters

 

Bondi to Manly Ultra

Bondi to Manly Walk Supporters mission is to protect, preserve and enhance the public land along the Bondi to Manly Walk and raise awareness and community use of the Walk.
The Bondi to Manly Ultra will provide an opportunity to do this and will be the pinnacle event of the organisation’s annual calendar, encouraging increased use and enjoyment not just on race day but in the months before as the community trains and prepares. It also provide a marketing boost for walkers to tackle the challenge year round. Additionally, the Ultra works to provide a sustainable funding model for the not-for-profit, charitable efforts in the ongoing protection, preservation and enhancement of the public land around Sydney Harbour foreshore on the Walk.
The Bondi to Manly Ultra will traverse the 80km Bondi to Manly Walk. Runners will start at sunrise on Bondi Beach then run along existing coastal and harbour side paths around Sydney Harbour before finishing at Manly Beach. There is no other event around the world that traverses a major global city - showcasing Sydney, from the major global icons, to the small local pubs - in one epic challenge.

Blues Brews & BBQ's Festival

The Blues, Brews & BBQ’s Festival will be run on Saturday 14 May 2022 in Brookvale working with local breweries to curate a fun day where the community can experience live music, great brews, in the form of craft breweries, distilleries, artisan coffee and teas, as well as feasting on slow cooked meats on BBQ's. 
Each venue will host Australian musicians, including a contingent of Northern Beaches providing the soundtrack for the day, and providing an atmosphere as the community can explore Brookvale and sample from businesses offerings.
We will also be focusing on mental health awareness through various initiatives including a gala dinner on Friday night, a forum on Saturday with workshops promoting conversations and mental well being.
The event is being held in honour of Northern Beaches legend Chris Cameron-Doe, who sadly took his own life in February 2021. Chris was heavily involved with South Steyne Surf Club, Manly Roos and Manly Village Public School. Chris was a much loved, larger than life individual, who left us in the most tragic of circumstances. The event will money for Gotcha 4 Life through numerous charity drives/initiatives across the opening evening gala dinner and main festival.

Brews Beachside

Brews Beachside is a lifestyle event that combines fitness and rewards with a food and beer festival with family friendly activities. Celebrating and showcasing a broad selection of diverse businesses to drive the local economy.
Due to Pont3’s extensive experience in the running space they are looking to add a unique twist to the traditional food and beer festival with a two-pronged concept: 
1. Active: Encouraging people to move and be rewarded. Attendees will be encouraged to ditch the car and travel to the event by running or walking to improve physical health and mental wellbeing. The event will reward kilometres completed with a discounted entry price and other rewards.
2. Celebration: Brews includes the best craft beer from local breweries and food from local restaurants and food trucks and will provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for people to sample local products and enjoy the Summer Weather. Brews is a family affair and will host activities and entertainment for all ages with live music, an open-air cinema and interactive challenge zones all powered by local business.

Fairlight Fridays

Fairlight Fridays

Activation of the Fairlight shopping 'village' with Friday evening events.  Fairlight Fridays aim to: 
1. Celebrate release from lockdown and boost pre-Christmas spend, especially for businesses that have been closed during lockdown 
2. Promote new and existing night time activity 
3. Test market and interest from community particularly for businesses opening in the evenings 
4. Thank the community for its loyal support of businesses in the village
5. Champion the diverse range of businesses and services in Fairlight 
6. Encourage the community to continue to support local business post-lockdown
7. Activate shop frontages and encourage applications for outdoor dining and display of goods
8. Develop and promote the Fairlight brand including Fairlight Evenings, particularly Fridays
9. Strengthen the connections between the three separate parts of the shopping village, which are divided by Sydney Road and the break in commercial property.
10. Support the establishment of a group of 'champions' among local businesses and residents
11. Fill the streets with life!

Sydney Beach 5s Rugby Festival

Since 2018, Beach Rugby Australia has quickly become a favourite on the Rugby Union and Rugby League scene for end-of-season. Beach 5s Rugby is a spectacular, fast-paced and exciting game based on modified rules of Rugby Union, Rugby League and Touch Football - no scrums or line-outs. With 5 players aside, up to 7 substitute players per team are permitted. Each half takes just 5mins with everything you have. Straightforward and easy-to-understand this contact sport is a hugely popular hit for spectators and players alike.
The Sydney Beach 5s Rugby Festival will be free to the general public with a picturesque beach setting including marquees, décor, deck chairs and outside patio umbrellas. The festival will include a mix of Elite, Social, Masters and Junior divisions (male & female).

Northern Beaches Junior Regional Titles

The Northern Beaches Junior Regional Titles are a pathway for junior surfers in the local region to qualify for the NSW State Titles and form part of Team NSW. The Northern Beaches region is a very strong area with many talented junior surfers aged 12 - 18. The Regional Titles form the grassroots entry level for these aspiring athletes to begin competitive surfing and gain competition experience and knowledge to further progress. The two day event will take place across a weekend in April / May 2022.

Movies at Manly

Sessions of classic cinema offered across two season - Summer and Winter. Included in the schedule are restored silent films with live music accompaniment involving celebrated musicians and sound era films. Planned activities include three sessions per day across dates in January and June 2022. The films are acknowledged classics across various genres and from a number of countries including Australia. Sessions shall take place across 11 days and present over 30 shows. Movies at Manly Festival seeks to promote within the Northern Beaches' community and the wider audience the artistic, cultural and historic value of cinema.

Fete de la Musique NSW - Make Music Day

World Music Day was created in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication to celebrate amateur music: anyone can participate! This diverse festival combines all styles, audiences and countries. Artists and music-lovers of all ages gather all over France, and now all over the world, in order to share these moments of pleasure and discover new artists who perform every year on 19-21 June.
The free, family-friendly event will be held at St Paul’s Catholic College in Manly on 19 June 2022 from 9am-4pm and will feature 25 bands performing across 5 stages, 10+ food marquees to deliver French gastronomy, music school performances and music discovery sessions for kids.
Organisers will encourage absolutely everyone to do some music; anyone can sing or play an instrument, alone or in a band, in outdoor spaces. People who appreciate the music, but aren’t actually playing can enjoy the day by walking through the festival to enjoy the performances and French gastronomy.

Girl Guides Association New South Wales

Try Orienteering with Frenchs Forest Guides

Community event to try orienteering and increase awareness of Girl Guide unit located at Frenchs Forest. The event would include a sausage sizzle / bacon and egg sandwich, type of fundraising stall.
A subsidised ticket price will make it affordable and accessible to individuals and families, in particular from the local area.

Long Live Tommy

A carnival event featuring bands, food trucks, stall holder, car show, raffles, prizes and games. The event will run from 3pm-9pm and include only Northern Beaches local retail owners. 
The aim will be to raise funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Oncology Social Work department. The day will also be designed to bring the community together with family and friends a main factor.
The event will promote the new not-for-profit foundation which will aid Northern Beaches families needing help when a cancer diagnosis is delivered to children.

Coast to Coast (working title)

This is a one off collaboration of the best chefs across NSW coast coming together for an event to remember. Featuring OG faves, the hottest new chef talent in the state and the best of the Northern Beaches chefs - they have one thing in common, they all cook by the coast! These excellent humans will be flashing pans together for a one-off dining event with a bespoke menu all hosted by the chefs themselves. Each chef will take a course (or snack), drinks matched to each course.
