The Business Sustainability Award celebrates local businesses leading the way in sustainability. It recognises businesses which put the environment first; from cutting waste and repurposed materials to electrifying operations or encouraging customers to recycle. The Award is part of the Northern Beaches Local Business Awards and sponsored by Northern Beaches Council.

Winner: Op for Change

• A volunteer-run social enterprise transforming the traditional op shop model through a zero-waste approach
• Ensures every donated item is resold, repaired, repurposed, redistributed or responsibly recycled
• Shifting behaviours through inspiring initiatives like the Manly Sustainable Trail

Highly commended: CandleXchange

• Transforming the home fragrance industry through an innovative circular ‘Return & Swap’ model
• Used candle containers are given a second life, preventing waste from going to landfill
• A certified social enterprise, donating at least 50% profits and providing more than 4,000 candles to people experiencing hardship

Northern Beaches Council reserves the right to withdraw an award if further information or the recipient’s conduct draws the awards into disrepute.
