There is no doubt events bring people together, connect our community and provide a sense of civic pride. They also are a great way to boost our local economy.

We have hundreds of amazing locations and venues to choose from across the beaches to stage everything from markets to fun runs, concerts to food festivals and everything in between.

Event Guide

Council has adopted a guide to support the community to stage events including how to plan, manage and deliver them on the Northern Beaches.

The Guide to Events on the Northern Beaches will support third party operators along with community groups, providing an outline to deliver safe and successful events that not only meet their objectives, but also those of the Northern Beaches Event Strategy 2018-2023.

The Guide includes key areas such as planning for an event, making an application, what factors organisers should consider along with providing template documents, quick tips and useful contacts.

The 35-page Guide also includes information about the types of permits and approvals that may be required when staging an event at a Council venue or one of our many open spaces.

Accessible Event Guidelines

Northern Beaches Council is committed to providing services to everyone. We continually strive to improve access to services for all members of our community.

Ensuring that communities are accessible and inclusive provides greater choice and control in the lives of all members of the community and is key to enabling all people including those living with disability to fully participate in community life.

These guidelines are intended to provide event organisers with an understanding of how to make events more accessible, outlining best practice considerations that should be implemented to ensure consistency in the planning and delivery of events.

Council venues

Open spaces

You can book one of our fabulous locations for public, private, social or commercial events. Check out the open space bookings process.

Depending on its purpose and scale, events are considered ‘major’ or ‘small’ and are subject to various approvals and different time frames for the event application process. For more complex event enquiries where multiple application forms are required to be submitted, event organisers may have access to a concierge service to support their process.

Community Centres

Community centres are a great, affordable option when planning an event. Across the Northern Beaches, there are 38 Council Community Centres that can be booked for suitable events.

There’s a wide variety of centres and venues to choose from, suitable for functions, children’s parties, meetings or exercise classes. Ensure that you compare venues to check capacities, fees and layout of the different venues to find the best fit for your purposes

Grants

The Event Grants and Sponsorship Program looks for unique partnerships where Council seeks to support the delivery of new and innovative events as well as ensuring that existing events continue to expand and prosper on the Northern Beaches.

It aims to build the skills and resources of the community to deliver a diverse calendar of local events that promote community participation, and celebrate the social and cultural richness in our villages and town centres. The program aims to promote enhanced economic, social, environmental and/ or cultural benefits to the Northern Beaches community.

This support is through Cash and/or In Kind support.
