Dick Persson, AM
Dick Persson has worked for more than 25 years in Local Government in both Queensland and NSW. He is most well-known on the Northern Beaches for his time as Warringah Council Administrator from 2003 to 2008.
While at Warringah, Mr Persson was involved in all aspects of running and reforming the council, through implementing good practice, removing conflicts of interests in council operations and establishing a change in culture amongst staff at the council.
After completing his term as the Administrator of Warringah Council, Mr Persson went on to become the Administrator of Port Macquarie Council in 2008.
Before his role as the Administrator of Warringah Council, Mr Persson was the Director General of the Queensland Department of Housing, Local Government and Planning between 1989 and 1994, and Queensland Department of Health 1994 to 1995. He then served as the NSW Director General of the Department of Public Works and Services between 1995 and 2003.
Mr Persson completed a three-year term as the Chairman of Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority in August 2014 and recently completed a six year term as a Local Government Advisor to the NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal on rating and infrastructure charging.
Mr Persson was made a Member of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day awards of 2003 for "service to the community, particularly through the development of new public policy initiatives relating to Health, Electronic Government-Wide business, Public Housing, Planning and Local Government."
